They don’t seem to be very good at manufacturing, though. That might turn out to be “not very good yet” or “they cannot understand the drills”.


This tweet stream quotes an analyst report that says Tesla’s manufacturing problems stem from trying to automate their final assembly line. Which means, it might work sooner or later, but other auto makers who actually know manufacturing have tried and failed, so it might just be hubris.

I have not been able to find the report itself, but the tweet stream has enough excerpts to tell the tale.
